Description:
Here are some
props submissions from the Isles LARP;
The first set
is the Temporal Gate. It is the means by which the characters of Asylum may
reach other realities. The arrangement of the disks indicates what opens and to
where. The Lucite work “desk is illuminated ad glows in the dark, and is
observed by camera on a monitor in another part of the building by a plot
person, who can trigger the appropriate response, with lighting and other
special effects. It’s a very powerful scene when lit appropriately. Prop concept
by Lori Turi and committee, prop build by Geoff Haigh.
The next
device is a “hand scanner” which is metal column with a box on top, which you
put your hand on. If it recognizes you, it will open the gate. It’s possible,
using game skills, to jury rig a circuit to bypass this scanner, thus the access
panel in the side where the characters can, again using game skills, reconnect
the wires in different ways to complete the circuit. Prop concept ad
construction by Athene Boswell.
The next pair
of pictures are coins for the Asylum game, designed by Aidrian O’Connor, and
constructed by Geoff Haigh. They are foil-coated plastic, laser cut and etched.
